Jennifer Barresi, RN, FNP, PMHNP-BC

Jennifer Barresi is a board-certified nurse practitioner in psychiatry and family medicine (PMHNP/FNP-BC) skilled in evaluating teens, young adults and adults and prescribing evidence-based treatments including psychiatric medication management and supportive psychotherapy. Her background of more than 25 years of experience in medicine offers her a unique capacity to assess and integrate the conditions of the mind and body with a deep understanding of the whole person. Jennifer possesses strong clinical skills enhanced by a natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. She empowers her patients through education and compassion even in the most complex situations.

Professionally, Jennifer has a history of diverse roles in a variety of settings including family primary care practitioner, university health center with directorship in sexual and peer health education, long term rehabilitation, hospital-based medical/surgical nursing, substance abuse and detox treatment, office-based MAT treatment for opioid addiction as well as school-based nursing.

Since 2011, Jennifer’s mission has been to increase access to behavioral health by providing psychiatric treatment in primary care settings. One of her specialties is the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and with family systems. Jennifer provides comprehensive treatment for patients experiencing anxiety, such as adjustment disorders, OCD, and panic disorders; ADHD; PTSD; co-management in eating disorder treatment; women’s health such as PMDD, postpartum depression, and menopause related concerns; sports-related neuropsychiatric traumatic brain injury sequelae.

​

 

Jennifer Barresi completed her psychiatric training at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing earning a Post Master’s degree as a PMHNP, her Master’s in Nursing and Family Medicine degree as an FNP and RN from Binghamton University and a B.A. in Medical Anthropology and Biology from University of Oregon.
