Timothy W. Hughes, PsyD
Dr. Hughes is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist extensively trained in providing both short-term goal orientated therapies, and longer more in-depth therapies. He fully believes that therapy can be transformational and has the power to identify and change destructive patterns, increase development of psychological mindfulness, and explore new ways to cope successfully with difficult situations.
Dr. Hughes practice is centered on helping those individuals and, when indicated, family members develop the ability to positively address a range of difficulties including anxiety and depressive disorders, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, professional growth issues, academic struggles, sports performance, and work performance struggles among other concerns. He also works on helping patients at any stage in life struggling with learning disabilities. His aim is to help patients better understand their strengths and identify potential obstacles while working to aid in the development of healthy coping skills and adjust to difficulties in life.
Therapy is based upon an integrative approach using Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, and Self/Relational Psychotherapy techniques which are tailored to each patient and their goals. Psychoeducation is used to reduce possible misunderstandings and areas of conflict while increasing the patient’s or the parent’s understanding of underlying dynamics.
